Delhi Daredevils are looking to seize another win of the DLF IPL tournament as they have put a challenging total of 191 at the loss of five wickets for Bangalore Royal Challengers at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi.
Delhi batsmen dominated the opposition bowling from the start as their openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir smashed them all round the park.
Royal Challengers got the first sigh of relief when Ross Taylor ran out Virender Sehwag (24). But the joy didn't last long as the in-form Gautam Gambhir took charge of Delhi innings along with no. 3 batsman Shikhar Dhawan and whipped Royal bowlers with a string of boundaries.
Gambhir and Shikhar with their fifties took their side in a commanding position. Shikhar fell after making 50 runs. Gambhir, unlucky to miss out on his century, was at his best and made 86 runs with the help of 11 fours and one six.
Bangalore bowlers made a comeback in the death overs and picked four wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Shoaib Malik, Dinesh Karthik and Gautam Gambhir.
Earlier, Bangalore Royal Challengers won the toss and decided to put Daredevils to bat in their DLF Indian Premier League match at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.
This is a crucial match for Bangalore Royal Challengers as any more loss means they will fail to make it to the semi-finals. They have so far played four matches and have clinched just one win. They are currently placed seventh in the points table, just ahead of Mumbai Indians.
