Shane Warne has heaped praise on Shane Watson, describing his fellow Australian as the most important player in the Indian Premier League.
Watson has shown his all-round qualities throughout the tournament and came to the fore to help Rajasthan Royals get the better of Delhi Daredevils on Sunday.
He took 2-21 from his four overs and then weighed with 71 from 40 balls to help his side secure a three-wicket win.
Warne’s side are well placed to qualify for the semi-finals and he feels Watson is the ace in The Royals’ pack.
“Glenn McGrath showed his class for them at the start, then Shane Watson came in and played one of the great innings of the IPL,” Warne said on Setanta Sports. “It was an amazing innings and I can’t praise it high enough.
“The way he came in and hit the ball cleanly from ball one and showed why he is the most important player in this competition.”
The Royals are now among the favourites for The IPL and he is looking forward to a short break.
“It was nice playing a tight one,” he added. “We lost a bit of momentum with my over, but I am proud with the way the guys played.
”There were one or two inexperienced guys playing tonight and it will help them a lot. We are seven and two at the top of the table and we are happy.
“We have four days in Goa now the boss is shouting us. After three games in five days the boys have deserved a break. We will sit on the beach, play a bit of tennis, a few massages and come back fresh.”
