Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and chose to bat first against the Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi on Saturday.
Sehwag lead from the front as the home team posted a challenging 118-4 in their 11 overs after rain had reduced the match to an 11 over per side contest.
Sehwag and Gautham Gambhir raced to 75 in seven overs before Gambhir was bowled for 40 off 28 balls ( 7 x 4's ) by off spinner Ramesh Powar in his first over.
Earlier Yuvraj Singh dropped Sehwag at mid off in the third over when the Delhi Captain had six. Sehwag then cut loose to bring up his third IPL fifty in just 23 balls ( 6 x 6's and 2 x 4's) . The Daredevils were looking good at 94-1 after 8.1 overs before the heavens opened.
The umpires had no option but to take the players off the field. The long delay resulted in the match then being reduced to 13 overs. However, just as the players were due to come back onto the field, it rained again resulting in the match being reduced to 11 overs per side. When play finally resumed, the Daredevils lost the momentum and could only add another 24 runs to finish on 118/4.
