The Kolkata Police Force wants an IPL match to be rescheduled as it is clashing with key election dates .

According to the IPL league table, Kolkata Knight Riders meet the Royal Challengers on May 13. On that very day, the last leg of the Lok Sabha elections will be held at Kolkata North, Kolkata South, Jadavpur, Dum Dum, Barasat, Mathurapur, Diamond Harbour, Bongaon and Barrackpore.

"We think the whole league table will be rescheduled because the election dates will clash with matches in several cities. If the IPL authorities do not reschedule it by themselves, we will ask them to do so," said a senior Kolkata Police officer. The officer said May 13 is extremely crucial for the city, as a huge force will be deployed at the north and south Kolkata constituencies.

Besides May 13, the other six home matches for Kolkata Knight Riders do not clash with the polls. In West Bengal, elections will begin on April 30 whereas the first Knight Riders home match is on April 11 against Deccan Chargers.

The second match is on April 18 against Delhi Daredevils, the third on April 20 against Kings XI Punjab, the fourth one on May 2 against Rajasthan Royals, fifth against Mumbai Indians on May 6 and the sixth one against Chennai Super king on May 8. The last match was on May 13 against the Royal Challengers.

"If the IPL committee does not want to reschedule the date, they have the option of shifting the match to any other nearby venue. We think Cuttack may get the match," said another officer.
