Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has been made the new captain of the Kings XI Punjab replacing Yuvraj Singh who's position had been in jeopardy for a few weeks.
When the news was announced by the Kings XI it came as no surprise that Yuvraj had been relived of the captaincy. Reports have emerged during the last couple of weeks that coaching staff were worried about his attitude problem.

With Yuvraj as captain the Kings XI were one of the surprise packages in the inaugural IPL in 2008 reaching the semi finals before losing to the Chennai Super Kings. Fortunes were mixed a year later in South Africa as the team missed out on a semi final berth after losing their final group game against the Super Kings.

A source from the team indicated that Yuvraj will be left to concentrate more on his game after being relieved from the burden of the captaincy.

With the sacking of Yuvraj four Indian players have now been relived of captaining IPL teams. The other players to face the sack were Rahul Dravid (Royal Challengers), VVS Laxman (Chargers) and Sourav Ganguly (Knight Riders).
