Knight Riders release Pointing from contract

Australia skipper Ricky Pointing as had his contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders brought out by the franchise in order to allow them space in their squad to take part in tomorrow's player auction.
Pointing was signed to a three year deal by the Knight Riders during the first player auction but the Australian skipper has confirmed he won't play in this years IPL in order to prepare for the Ashes later this year.

The move by the Knight Riders to free Pointing will allow them to take part in the auction.

The Rajasthan Royals have also confirmed they have released Mohammad Kaif after buying out his contract. Kaif will now be added to the auction pool.
