Irfan Pathan is aiming to recover from a back injury in time to play in this years Indian Premier League for the Kings XI Punjab.
Pathan missed the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy but he will be match fit in 20 days meaning he will miss the Kings XI’s first two IPL games.
"I should be match-fit in two to two-and-a-half weeks. I have a back strain that first troubled me after the Duleep Trophy final" Pathan told DNA.
The back strain also saw Pathan left out of India’s 30 man squad for this years Twenty20 World Cup which takes place in May.
"I went to the National Cricket Academy for my rehabilitation and on February 15 the physio stated that I should be fit in four to six weeks. As I was at the NCA, I believe that the physio would have communicated my fitness status to the Board of Control for Cricket in India," Pathan said.
"It does feel bad [to be left out of the sqaud]. I am going to concentrate on playing at my best. Cricket is my life but I need to understand that this is also part and parcel of the game"
"The IPL is a great opportunity for me to perform well. I may miss one or two IPL matches but I should be fully fit for the rest for Kings XI Punjab" he added.
