BCCI looking to clips the wings of Modi

After a week of scandal that has rocked the Indian Premier League the BCCI are reported to be lining up a candidature to become the leagues co-commissioner.
Lalit Modi wields considerable power as the IPL’s commissioner which is one of the must senior roles within the BCCI but with more and more details emerge about Modi’s control over the IPL.
His wife’s brother-in-law is co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals. Modi’s step-daughter is married to the Burman family which co-owns the Kings XI Punjab while his close friends, the Moranis, bought into the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Details also emerged on Thursday about Modi’s son-in-law Gaurav Burman and his involvement with Elephant Capital who owns a 50% stake in Global Cricket Ventures, the new media company who owns the internet and mobile rights to the IPL and Champions League.
Although no BCCI officials have made any comments on the stories it is widely believed that BCCI president Shashank Manohar will become co-commissioner.
The BCCI are thought to be unhappy about the way Modi has not consulted the Governing Council on several occasions and his continuous use of Twitter to announce private details about the running of the IPL.
The IPL Governing Council is expected to meet after the IPL finishes next weekend and Modi’s future role with the BCCI will be discussed.
