Tendulkar blames poor fielding for defeat

Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar blamed a number of fielding mistakes for contributing to the Indians 22 run defeat against the Chennai Super Kings.

Suresh Raina was dropped twice early on in his innings of 57 which laid the foundations for the Super Kings to claim the Indian Premier League title.

"To start with a couple of important catches cost us, as they say "catches win matches", that is where we faltered a bit," said Tendulkar.

"At the start as well, we could have accelerated a little bit. Everyone tries, but not always it comes through and it just was one of those tough days that we had today," he added.

"We were not able to execute our plans to what we had discussed, towards the end Pollard came, but it was a bit too late by then. If we had accelerated in the middle, it could have made a difference, but I really feel where we faltered was in our fielding."

"I want to take the opportunity to thank all the MI supporters, they have been fabulous, I would really like thank them on behalf of my team."

"Their effort was tremendous, right from the end of IPL 2, we started our work and brought the team together. There is a lot of hard work in putting the combination together."

"The journey was fantastic, to travel around with youngsters, some of them are extremely talented and have done well. The experienced ones chipped in and towards the end Pollard came up with a special effort."

"I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Mumbai Indians set-up. I would like to thank the support staff and the owners for backing us."
