Indian Premier League champions the Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni has praised his teams fighting spirit for bouncing back to claim their maiden title.
"I think the credit goes to the team, we have played really well throughout. We were under pressure in the middle of the tournament, but I think the way we bounced back has been really remarkable, " said Dhoni after the game.
"The support staff gave us what was needed. We practiced really well and hard in Chennai. Credit goes to the franchise owners as well, especially to MR N Srinivasan, who kept saying that we will reach the semi-finals even though we were having a tough time. Overall very excited to lift the trophy today," he added.
"We were happy with 168, because the Mumbai wicket does support the seamers and we have got Doug Bollinger who gets a bit of bounce. We were expecting him to start off well with Ashwin, who has done a really good job for us, bowling the first 3 overs in the power-plays consistently well for us."
"Once that happens, then the asking rate at 8 runs per over, begins to mount and keep on building up the pressure. And there are not many who can handle pressure apart from Sachin."
"They have got quite a bit of big hitters down the order, if they get going the match will be over at the end of the 18th over, but at the end of the day it is all about handling pressure and we were able to create the kind of pressure that got us wickets."
