IPL auction to take place in Bangalore

Despite on going legal issues surrounding the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab the BCCI has confirmed the IPL player auction will take place at the start of January in Bangalore.
A total of 416 players will go under the hammer on Saturday, January 8th and Sunday January 9th as the ten franchises taking part in next years Indian Premier League look to fill their squads.

"The auction is to be held in Bangalore and a total of 416 players would go under the hammer," said an BCCI source.

Despite a number of franchises unhappy about the retention rules; 12 players have already be retained meaning players like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina will be missing from the auction.

Other players who secured their places in next years IPL after being retained on the final day deadline include Harbhajan Singh, Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga.

The teams will lose $1.8 million from the auction pool for the first player retained and $1.3 million for the second player. The third will cost the team $900,000 and the fourth $500,000.

Chennai Super Kings - MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, M Vijay, Albie Morkel

Royal Challengers Bangalore - Virat Kohli

Delhi Daredevils - Virender Sehwag
