Kumble withdraws from the IPL player auction

Indian Premier League skipper Anil Kumble has withdrawn from this years IPL player auction which is set to get under way on Saturday morning in Bangalore.
Kumble lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore into last season’s knock out stages but having been elected to the role of president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association the 40 year old felt the need to withdraw form the auctions.

"I wish to withdraw from the players auction for IPL IV scheduled for the 8th and 9th of January 2011 in Bangalore," said Kumble.

"I have enjoyed my stint at the IPL so far and thank all concerned for the support extended," he added.

The former Indian test legend played in Bangalore for three years helping them become one of the best franchises in the IPL.
