The Delhi DareDevils have handed the captaincy of the team to opening batsman Virender Sehwag who will lead the franchise in the upcoming Indian Premier League.
The Indian international captained the side during the 2008 and 2009 tournaments but he gave up the role last year in order to concentrate on his batting at the top of the order.

"For me there cannot be any other team than Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. As someone who grew up playing cricket in Delhi I am very proud to be playing for the Delhi Daredevils. I am delighted to be part of the Delhi Daredevils and lead the team," said Sehwag.

"I am looking forward to taking the Daredevils to new heights in IPL-4," he added.

Srinivas Bommidala, Chairman of the Daredevils owner GMR Sports said Virender Sehwag stands for the Daredevils credo of Khelo Front Foot Pe.
