England all rounder Ravi Bopara has turned down a lucrative Indian Premier League deal in order to concentrate on cementing a place in Englands Test match side.
Bopara was offered a deal by the Rajasthan Royals to play in next months tournament as a replacement for Paul Collingwood who was forced to undergo knee surgery after England’s exit from the World Cup.

The £100,000 deal would have seen Bopara miss at least four County Championship games but the 25 year old intends to use these matches in order to secure a place in the England Test side which will play Sri Lanka in May.

With Eoin Morgan deciding to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Bopara will have extra time to impress before the squad to face Sri Lanka is announced by Andy Flower.
