Australian batsman Shaun Marsh believes the Kings XI Punjab will challenge for the semi finals this years thanks to their well balanced squad and the leadership of Adam Gilchirst.
The 27 year old, who played for the Kings XI during the first three IPL tournaments, hopes the past disappointments will become a part of history once his new teammates gel as a team.
"We have a new team, new coaching staff. I believe what has happened in the last three years is irrelevant now. It's a bit of history," said Marsh said.
"The player auctions have thrown up some new combinations. We may have lost some players, but gained others. I think we have a balanced squad and we are looking forward to the challenge to win the finals.
Marsh also cites the signing of former IPL winning skipper Gilchirst as another reason why the Kings XI could surprise a few teams and reach the knock out stages.
"Gilly is a great team leader. He brings with him a wealth of experience. We saw how he led the Deccan Chargers earlier," he added.
