The Mumbai Indians cruised to an 8 wicket victory over an under performing Delhi DareDevils side who were blown away by Lasith Malinga who produced a devastating display of bowling to claim 5 wickets.
The Sri Lanka was in scintillating form as he recorded the third best bowling figures in IPL history (13-5) as the DareDevils collapsed from 82-4 to 95 all out after the middle order were unable to stop Malinga’s perfectly placed yorkers.

With the expectation of Venugopal Rao (29), Naman Ojha (26) and Virender Sehwag (19) none of the other DareDevils batsman reached double figures.

Faced with such a small victory target the Indians took their time to complete the win with Sachin Tendulkar hitting the winning runs with 19 balls to spare to get the visitors off to a perfect start.

Despite losing Davy Jacobs (1) and Ambati Rayudu (14) early on Sachin Tendulkar (46) and Rohit Sharma (27) lead the Indians to victory with a trouble free 3rd wicket partnership of 68.

The DareDevils innings got off to a sensational start thanks to Malinga who bowled David Warner (1) and Unmukt Chand (0) in the space of three deliveries in the 2nd over.

The Sri Lanka followed this up with a superb maiden before DareDevils skipper Sehwag was run out in the 5th over thanks to Australian batsman Aaron Finch who called the DareDevils opener through for an ill-advised single.

Having run his skipper out in front of a big home crowd Finch would have felt obligated to remain at the crease and record a big score to make amends.

Unfortunately for Finch (8) his stay at the crease only last a further two overs before he top edged a delivery from Harbhajan Singh to Ambati Rayudu at deep backward square leg to leave the home side 40-4.

With four wickets down the DareDevils were in big trouble but a 5th wicket partnership of 42 from Venugopal Rao and Ojha looked to have brought the home side back into contention.

Any thought of reaching a score 130 plus quickly went out of the window through in the 15th over when Ojha (29) was dismissed by Ali Murtaza before Irfan Pathan (0) was run out from the very next delivery without facing a ball.

With the DareDevils rocking Malinga came back into the attack to remove Venugopal Rao (26) and Morne Morkel (0) with another two perfectly placed yorkers to leave the DareDevils 88-8 at the end of the 16th over.

Harbhajan Singh returned to dismiss Umesh Yadav (0) in the 17th over but Malinga wouldn’t be denied a 5 wicket haul after he picked up the final wicket of the game dismissing Ashok Dinda (0) who was caught by James Franklin in the covers.
