The Kolkata Knight Riders completed a comprehensive 17 run victory over the Delhi DareDevils who suffered another disappointing defeat at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
The victory keeps the Knight Riders hopes of reaching the knock out stages of the tournament alive while the DareDevils slumped to their 5 defeat.

Faced with a relative easy run chase the DareDevils struggled to stay up with the required run rate after the early loss of David Warner (2) who was bowled by Lakshmipathy Balaji at the end of the 2nd over.

Virender Sehwag briefly offered hope for the home fans after smashing 5 boundaries and a six before he picked out Balaji at fine leg to give Jaidev Unadkat the vital wickets.

James Hopes (25) kept alive the DareDevils faint hopes of pulling off an amazing victory but once he was dismissed by Iqbal Abdulla in the 14th over the Knight Riders cruised to victory.

Irfan Pathan (9), Travis Brit (8), Naman Ojha (1) quickly followed before Yogesh Nagar and Venugopal Rao enjoyed a 7th wicket stand of 38 which kept the crowd excited until Venugopal Rao (19) was run out by Brett Lee at the start of the 19th over.

The Knight Riders big hitting line up were silenced by an impressive DareDevils bowling attack which restricted the visitors to a score of 148-7 which in the end was more then enough for the visitors to defend.

Having been put into bat the Knights Riders top order struggled to hit top gear with the exception of Manoj Tiwary who scored a vital half century for the visitors.

Arriving at the crease in the 6th over after the loss of Shreevats Goswami (22), Tiwary held the Knight Riders innings together scoring 61 runs from 47 deliveries which included 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Umesh Yadav (29-2) and Irfan Pathan (16-1) led the DareDevils bowling attack which stifled the Knight Riders top order to leave the home side cashing a total of only 149.

Goswami and Jacques Kallis (11) got the innings off to a good start but neither of the openers was able to build on their early success as the Knight Riders innings got off to a stuttering start.

Gautam Gambhir (18) also failed to remain at the crease for long after he picked out Venugopal Rao on the deep mid wicket boundary to give James Hopes the big break through to leave the visitors 82-3.

Despite the lose of Gambhir, the Knight Riders would have remained confident of posting a big total but Yadav struck twice to remove Pathan (5) and Eoin Morgan (0) with consecutive deliveries to leave the visitors 105-5 in the 15th over.

With Pathan and Morgan back in the dugout Dutch international Ryan ten Doeschate enjoyed a cameo innings of 19 which included 2 fours and a six to help the Knight Riders reach 148-7.
