Virender Sehwag scored a brilliant half century to help the Delhi DareDevils recover from a poor start to set the Kochi Tuskers Kerala a run chase of 158 at the Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
With the exception of Sehwag the DareDevils struggled on a poor batting surface which played a major role in the innings with its low bounce to deceive a number of the visitor’s batsman.
Despite this Sehwag (80) played an impressive innings which allowed the DareDevils to record a competitive total after the opener recorded his second half century of the tournament.
Sehwag smashed 8 fours and 5 sixes during an amazing 47 ball innings as he single handily took the momentum away for the home side with a display of world class batting.
Yogesh Nagar (22) and Travis Birt (20) added some valuable runs while they supported Sehwag during his time at the crease to help the DareDevils reach 157-7.
Having won the toss Sehwag decided to bat first but the DareDevils got off to poor start after Sreesanth struck twice in his first over to leave the visitors 4-2.
Taking advantage of the low bounce Sreesanth bowled David Warner (3) with his first delivery before Naman Ojha (0) was trapped LBW by a delivery which almost rolled along the ground after being bowled back of a length which totally deceived the 27 year old.
Although Sehwag seemed comfortable at the crease, new batsman Venugopal Rao (1) struggled throughout his time at the crease before he was trapped LBW by Ravindra Jadeja to end his innings after just 9 deliveries to leave the daredevils 35-3 after 6.2 overs.
