Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni shared a 3rd wicket stand of 58 to help the Chennai Super Kings set the Deccan Chargers a victory target of 166 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Raina led the way top scoring with 59 while Michael Hussey (46) and MS Dhoni (21) played significant support roles to help the Super Kings reach 165-5.

Despite the early loss of Murali Vijay (3), who was bowled by Pragyan Ojha in the 4th over the Super Kings got off to a positive start with Hussey and Raina enjoying a 2nd wicket partnership of 60.

The pair got off to a fortunate start when Hussey was dropped by Cameron White as square leg just 2 deliveries after the dismissal of Vijay.

Although the runs were hard to come by the pair soon took control of the game, working the ball around the out field to keep the Chargers on the back foot despite the lack of boundaries.

Hussey led the way scoring 46 before he was dismissed by Harmeet Singh in the 13th over after the Aussie tamely pulled a long hop to Ishant Sharma out on the deep square leg boundary.

Despite making the break through the Chargers were unable to increase their advantage as Raina and Dhoni increased the tempo during a quick fire 3rd wicket partnership of 58.

The par smashed 4 fours and 3 sixes to take control of the game with a 32 ball half century partnership before Raina was dismissed by Pragyan Ojha in the 18th over.

Although the Chargers broke the partnership the Super Kings still increased their hold on the game thanks to Albie Morkel who smashed Sharma for three consecutive sixes in the penultimate over.

Despite the loss of Morkel (19) and Dhoni in the final over the Super Kings still managed to reach 165-5 which leaves the Chargers with a tricky run chase against the defending champions.
