Kings XI struggle to set Warriors big total

The Kings XI Punjab suffered a torrid time with the bat after being restricted to a total of only 118-8 by the Pune Warriors at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Chandigarh.
Despite winning the toss and electing to bat first the Kings XI struggled to get their innings going thanks to some impressive bowling from the Warriors.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (14-2) and Rahul Sharma (17-2)led the way for the visitors who were looking to snap a seven game losing streak which as seen them slip out of contention for a place in the play offs.

With the top order failing to fire, Dinesh Karthik played an important role in the middle order scoring 30 to help give the Kings XI bowlers a reasonable total to try and defend.

Shaun Marsh (32) and Paul Valthaty (23) both failed to record big totals after playing themselves in and lost their wickets just as the Kings XI were gaining the momentum to give the Warriors the edge.

The Kings XI causes were hardly helped by the cheap dismissals of Adam Gilchrist (3) and David Hussey (4) as the home sides faint hopes of reaching the play offs took a serve blow.

The home sides innings never got going as they lost wicket at regular intervals to leave the lower order woefully exposed as they lost their last 5 wickets in the space of 22 deliveries.
