Governing Council announce dates for 2012 IPL

The Indian Premier League Governing Council has announced the dates for next years tournament which will kick off on Wednesday, April 4th 2012.
The fifth edition of the tournament will feature 74 matches spread over 6 and a half weeks with the final taking place on Sunday, May 27th 2012; the board also announced the match schedule will be realeased soon.
This years tournament was won by the Chennai Super Kings who became the first team to win back to back titles after their 58 run victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
"We are happy to confirm the opening and closing dates of IPL 2012, ten months in advance. The match-schedule will be announced soon," said IPL Governing Council Chairman Chirayu Amin.
"We have no doubt that the fifth season of IPL will be as, if not more, eventful and exciting than the previous ones," he added.
