The Pune Warriors got their IPL campaign off to an impressive start thanks for a surprise 29 run victory over the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Fresh from victory over the Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday night, the Indians looked set to make it two wins in a row having restricted the Warriors to a total of just 129-9.

But the Indians inexplicably threw it away within twelve balls of their run chase as they slumped to just 5-3 with Murali Kartik and Ashok Dinda causing insurmountable damage.

With Sachin Tendulkar missing though injury the Indians top order were blown away with Richard Levi (0), Ambati Rayudu (1) and Rohit Sharma (1) back in the dug out before the run chase had really got going.

Dinesh Karthik (32) and James Franklin (32) offered some resistant’s but with nobody else offering support the Indians slumped to a surprising defeat having been restricted to a total of just 100-9.

The Warriors suffered their own batting woes with Manish Pandey (0) and Sourav Ganguly (3) both failing to get going at the top of the order but unlike the Indians, the Warriors slowly fought their way back.

Steven Smith (39) and Robin Uthappa (36) provided the main response to leave the Indians facing a run chase of 130 which seemed relatively straight forward until the home sides batting collapse.
