The Royal Challengers Bangalore started their Indian Premier League campaign with a well deserved 20 run victory over the Delhi DareDevils at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Faced with a victory target of 158, the DareDevils were unable to make it two wins out of two after they were derailed by Muttiah Muralitharan (3-25) who struck to remove Aaron Finch (25), Naman Ojha (33) and Glenn Maxwell (3).
With Virender Sehwag (0) already back in the dugout, Irfan Pathan offered the visitors fresh hope with a quick fire 24 but when he was won out in the penultimate over the Royal Challengers knew victory would be theirs.
Despite the loss of Chris Gayle before the match through injury, the Royal Challengers posted a total of 157-8 thanks in part to AB de Villiers who smashed 64 ruins from just 42 deliveries.
The South African scored six boundaries and two sixes to lead the charge much to the delight of the home fans in the packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
