A breath taking innings from Owais Shah wasn’t enough to stop the Mumbai Indians completing a 27 run victory over the Rajasthan Royals the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Having been set a victory target of 198, the Royals had slipped to just 7-2 before Shah (76) lead a memorable fight back thanks to a 3rd wicket stand of 82 with Ajinkya Rahane (40) before Pollard (4-44) struck to remove the opener in the 9th over.

Despite the loss, Shah continued his blitz which saw him smash five boundaries and five sixes to put the Royals on top thanks to some big hitting which left the Indians dumfounded.

With the pressure mounting Harbhajan Singh, brought his number one bowler, Lasith Malinga (2-13) back into the attack and the Sri Lankan struck with the first ball of the 15th over to remove Shah.

Having batted first the Indians recorded a total of 197-6 thanks in part to Kieron Pollard who smashed 64 runs from 33 deliveries which included six boundaries and four sixes.

Ambati Rayudu added a quick fire 47 to leave the Royals facing a mammoth run chase which proved to hard to chase down despite Shah’s heroics with the bat.
