A five wicket haul by Dimitri Mascarenhas helped secure the Kings XI Punjab their first win in this years IPL thanks to a seven wicket victory over the Pune Warriors at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Chandigarh.
Mascarenhas shone in favourable bowler conditions to end the innings with figures of 5-25 to help restrict the undefeated Warriors to a total of just 115 after they were bowled out with six balls remaining.
The Englishman picked up the wickets of Sourav Ganguly (16), Marlon Samuels (2) and Robin Uthappa (17) after Jessie Ryder (7) was run out by David Hussey in the 3rd over.
Mascarenhas returned towards the end of the innings to help finish off the tail to leave the Kings XI facing a run chase of just 116 which was completed with 14 balls to spare.
Despite the lose of Paul Valthaty (0) who was bowled by Ashok Dinda (1-18) from the first delivery of the run chase, Shaun Marsh (64) saw the home side home with a superb half century.
