A game changing 48 ball blitz from Chris Gayle was enough to help the Royal Challengers Bangalore seal an impressive six wicket victory over the Pune Warriors at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Faced with a victory target of 183, the Royal Challengers lost Tillakaratne Dilshan (4) and Mayank Agarwal (6) early on before Gayle almost single handedly turned the game on its head.
With the game slowly edging away from the home side, the big hitting West Indian smashed five sixes in a row off the bowling of Rahul Sharma in the 13th over to set up a tense finish.
Despite the loss of Gayle’s (81) in the 16th over Saurabh Tiwary (36) and AB de Villiers (33) held their nerve to seal victory thanks to Tiwary who smashed the final ball of the match for a six to spark wild celebrations from the home sides dugout
Robin Uthappa led the way for the Warriors with the bat scoring 69 runs from 45 balls to help the home side record a total of 182-6 which in the end proved not enough as Gayle led the Royal Challengers home.
Jessie Ryder (34) and Marlon Samuels (34) offered support but the Royals Challengers bounced back to snap a three game losing streak.
