The Kolkata Knight Riders inflicted more woe on the hapless Deccan Chargers thanks to a five wicket victory in a low scoring encounter at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
The defeat leaves the winless Chargers rooted to the bottom of the IPL group standings, six points adrift of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 8th place with their hopes of reaching the play offs already looking over.
Despite struggling to chase down the home sides low total of 127, the Knight Riders move up into third place in the standings tied on 8 points with four other teams.
Manoj Tiwary saw the visitors home with an important cameo of ** after the top order failed to fire on a batting track which both sides found difficult to bat on after the match was delayed for more then 90 minutes because of rain.
The only bright spot on another disappointing evening was an half century from Shikhar Dhawan who smashed four boundaries and a six to help the home side record a total of 126-7.
