The Mumbai Indians kept the pressure on the teams at the top of the IPL group standings after a five wicket victory over the Deccan Chargers at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Having dismissed the Chargers for just 100, the Indians cruised to victory but their run chase was kept in check by Dale Steyn who conceded just 10 runs from his four overs as well as picking up the wickets of Richard Levi (0) and Dinesh Karthik (2).
Despite an impressive performance from Styen, the Indians were able to complete victory thanks to Rohit Sharma (42) Ambati Rayudu (19) and Sachin Tendulkar (14).
It proved to be another disappointing day for the Chargers who slipped to their sixth defeat after they were bowled out with eight balls remaining in their innings after they were put into bat by Indians skipper, Harbhajan Singh.
Shikhar Dhawan (29) and JP Duminy (29) offered some resistant’s but Lasith Malinga (4-16) tore through the Chargers middle order to leave the home side facing a run chase of just 101.
