The Kings XI Punjab strengthened their hopes of securing a place in the IPL play offs thanks to an easy 25 run victory over the Deccan Chargers Punjab at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Kings XI recorded their sixth victory of the tournament to move up into fifth place with just four group games remaining as the race for a place in the play offs heats up in the closing two weeks of the group stages
It proved to be a simple victory for the Kings XI over the last place Chargers thanks in part to Mandeep Singh who smashed 75 runs from just 48 deliveries which included eight boundaries and three sixes.
David Miller (28) and Shaun Marsh (22) offered support to help the visitors record an imposing total of 170-5 after they were put into bat by the Chargers skipper Kumar Sangakkara.
Faced with a run chase of 171 runs the Chargers lost wickets at regular intervals and were never in with a chance of securing victory to keep their faint hope of reaching the playoffs alive.
Daniel Harris (31) offered the most resistant’s but with no support coming from the rest of his team the Chargers slumped to their ninth defeat to leave then 7 points from the play offs with just 8 more up for grabs.
