Royal Challengers cruise to 35 run victory

The Royal Challengers Bangalore moved up into third place in the IPL group standings thanks to a 35 run victory over the Pune Warriors at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune.
Having posted a total of 173-3, the visitors restricted the Warriors to a total of just 138-9 to inflict a seventh straight defeat on the home side who rested skipper Sourav Ganguly after a poor run of form with the bat.

Robin Uthappa (38) and Anustup Majumdar (31) offered some hope for the home side but with wickets falling at regular intervals the Warriors no match for the Royal Challengers.

It proved to be another successful day for the visitors after they were put into bat by Steven Smith as Chris Gayle (57) led the way with another quick fire half century.

Tillakaratne Dilshan (53) and Saurabh Tiwary (36) offered support to help the Royal Challengers strengthen their hopes of reaching the IPL playoffs.
