The Mumbai Indians strengthen their chances of securing a place in the IPL playoffs thanks to a 27 run victory over the high flying Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Rohit Sharma (109) lead the way with a quick fire century from just 52 balls which included eleven boundaries and five sixes to help the Indians record a total of 182-1.

Herschelle Gibbs (66) played the perfect support roll after the Indians lost Sachin Tendulkar (2) at the start of the 3rd over thanks to a stumping from wicket keeping from Mavinder Bisla off the bowling Shakib Al Hasan.

Faced with such a big total the Knight Riders lost Bisla (1) and Gautam Gambhir (0) inside the opening two lovers to leave the home side with a mountain to climb.

Jacques Kallis (79) lead the Knight Riders recovery but the Indians always remained in control as the secured a vital victory to close in on a place in the play offs.
