The Mumbai Indians strengthened their hopes of reaching the IPL playoffs thanks to a five wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Faced with a victory target of 172, the Indians has slipped to just 55-5 before Ambati Rayudu (81) and Kieron Pollard (82) led an amazing coming which saw them record a 5th wicket stand of 122 including 66 runs during the final 5 overs.
Having removed Sachin Tendulkar (0), Herschelle Gibbs (2) and Rohit Sharma (5) inside the opening four overs the Royal Challengers once again let slip a commanding position to leave their play off hopes hanging by a thread.
Having been put into bat by Harbhajan Singh the home side lost Chris Gayle (6) and Virat Kohli (3) early on but Royal Challengers took control of the match thanks to Tillakaratne Dilshan who smashed 47 runs which included four boundaries and a six.
Mayank Agarwal looked to have taken the game away from the Indians which a quick fire 64 from just 30 deliveries to help the home side record a total of 171-6 which proved to be in vain thanks to Rayudu and Pollard.
