A stunning blitz from Chris Gayle was more then enough to help the Royal Challengers Bangalore seal an empathic 21 run victory over the Delhi DareDevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
The big hitting West Indian smashed an unbelievable 128 runs from just 62 deliveries which included seven boundaries and a mammoth thirteen sixes to leave the DareDevils facing a victory target of 216.
Virat Kohli (73) played the perfect supporting role as the pair shared a 2nd wicket stand of 204 after the early loss of Tillakaratne Dilshan (10) who was dismissed by Varun Aaron in the third over.
The result see’s the Royals Challengers move level on points with the Chennai Super Kings in 4th place; a victory for Kohli’s side against the Deccan Chargers on Sunday will seal their place in the place offs at the expense of the defending champions.
Faced with an almost impossible run chase, the DareDevils tried their hardest to make a game of it thanks to a quick fire 22 ball half century from Ross Taylor (55) who smashed seven boundaries and two sixes on his way to 50.
Venugopal Rao (36) offered support but with no Virender Sehwag in the line up the DareDevils missed that cutting edge as the slipped to defeat.
