The Deccan Chargers ended the play off hopes of the Rajasthan Royals thanks a five wicket victory against Rahul Dravids side at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Chargers easily chased down the Royals total of 126-8 to end the visitor’s hopes of reaching the playoff. With just one game left the Royals are now unable to finish in the top four.
Akshath Reddy (42) and Shikhar Dhawan (26) led the run chase as the Chargers completed just their third victory of the tournament to move to within one point of the 8th place Pune Warriors.
It proved to be a disappointing day for the Royals who could only posts a total of 126-8 after they won the toss and elected to bat first as they searched for a victory to stay in the hunt for the play offs.
Dravid (39) and Owais Shah (28) provided the majority of the run but with wickets falling at regular intervals the Chargers stay in control of the match to deny the Royals.
