Zimbabwe senior cricket team captain Prosper Utseya says his troops need to believe that they can beat Bangladesh in the Tigers' own backyard if they are to be successful in their tour of the sub-continent.
The national team is expected to leave for Bangladesh tonight via Kenya and Dubai for the four-week tour of Bangladesh.
"We are trying to win the matches and we can't rely on history that they have been dominating us in Bangladesh and we have been winning when we host them.
"The last time they hosted us we took a 2-0 lead and had a chance to win but they came from behind to steal the lead from us wining the series 3-2.
"But that is what we are trying to avoid again this time
"We have been working hard on the tour and everyone has been putting a lot of effort in the preparations and I believe we are all in the right state of mind for the tour," said Utseya.
The right arm spinner said his side's strength lies more in batting and in fielding than in bowling.
"Our strength lies in the batsmen because we have a good order and we can bat well down to number 10 and having all that in mind we have done all the work and what's left is for us to deliver.
"I also believe that if we work with targets then we will be a successful side because at least we will be aiming to get somewhere and that is always good," said Utseya.
Zimbabwe will play a Twenty20 match on the 28th of this month in south-western city of Kulhna, which will also be the venue for the first ODI. The second and third ODIs will be in Bogra on December 3 and 5, with the final two matches in the capital, Dhaka, on December 8 and 9.
Coach Kevin Curran said he has set between 230 to 250 runs as a good target.
"Between 230 and 250 would be good enough runs for our side," said Curran yesterday.
The former Zimbabwe batsman said he was more worried about variety in the Bangladesh attack.
"It is more difficult to tour the sub-continent because we have to adjust to the climate and the environment.
