Dhoni fails again

Mahendra Singh Dhoni took international cricket by storm in his debut season. But since then he has not come up with too many match-winning efforts. Now is this just a bad phase for the Ranchi lad or is there more to it.

Dhoni like most of the Indian World Cup squad had a forgetful tournament with just 29 runs from 3 innings. So when he returned home, the wicketkeeper batsman decided that he could do with some much needed practice. So the regional Twenty20 was chosen and Dhoni went out to bat for Jharkhand against Orissa.

Four balls of some hostile fast bowling from India discard Debashish Mohanty and MS Dhoni was on his way caught at slip for just one run -- another failure to his name.

As he made his way out of the stadium, the waiting media pressed for some answers but Dhoni just didn't have any. It was left to east zone selector Ranjib Biswal to come out in his defence.

Dhoni -- one of India's promising young stars has had a few failures of late, especially with the bat and inconsistency has dogged him. The flashy star has been more in the news for his off field activities -- be it walking the ramp or signing his many endorsements.

And as India's performance began to slip and slide, so did Dhoni's. Dhoni now needs to get his bat and the gloves to do some serious talking to get the fans in his favour again.
