India have reappointed Rahul Dravid as their captain, despite a disastrous World Cup campaign under the tenure of the much-criticised batsman.
Dravid will be in charge for next month's series in Bangladesh and also the summer tour to England despite India being eliminated from the World Cup before the Super Eights.
"All of us are very disappointed that the team was knocked out but it is not the end of the world," said board of control treasurer N Srinivasan.
"By retaining Dravid as captain, we want to send out a signal that there is no cause for panic.
"We have to move forward and I am sure we will do well in future. It's a sport after all and there will be wins and defeats."
Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri has agreed to become India's interim coach for the tour to Bangladesh.
The former Test all-rounder and now television commentator will take over from Australian Greg Chappell, who resigned following India's World Cup elimination.
