Mumbai defeated Madhya Pradesh by 44 runs in the All India Inter-State Twenty20 Tournament being played here at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, but Sachin Tendulkar disappointed his fans by getting out cheaply.
The Ranji Trophy champions scored 188 for six in their allotted overs and restricted Madhya Pradesh to 144 for six.
Mumbai, put into bat by Madhya Pradesh, began on a dismal note losing Tendulkar in the third over of the match.

Needing about 9.5 runs per over, Madhya Pradesh began on a distastrous note losing four wickets with only 36 runs on the board in the first five overs.

However, Rahul Bakshi and Brijesh Tomar steadied the ship by playing a watchful innings. They stitched together a 75-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
They scored at over six runs per over but were well short of the required run rate which had climed to over 10 runs per over.
Tomar topscored with 57 from 56 balls while Bakshi made 40 from 31 balls.
Bakshi was trapped in front by left-arm spinner Iqbal Abdulla while Tomar was caught off the bowling of Vineet Indulkar on the last ball of the 20th over.
Ajit Agarkar picked up two wickets for 27 runs from his quota of four overs. Tendulkar also bowled two overs conceding 20 runs and went wicketless.
