Paul Collingwood hopes his England team will take the form they have shown in their current one-day series against India into the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa in September.
"The way we've played so far is very encouraging, and hopefully we can keep that momentum going because we've got a great buzz about the boys at the minute," Collingwood said from Manchester on Friday.
On Thursday, Collingwood's team rallied from 95 for five to score the 213 they needed to beat India and take a 3-1 lead in the seven-match series.
England shouldn't have much trouble fending off Zimbabwe's challenge in Cape Town on September 13. The next day, however, they face Ricky Ponting's Australians.
"It's a game that everybody looks forward to watching, and it's great to play against the best sides," Collingwood said. "Most sides will be going into the tournament pretty equal, but Australia will come with a lot of skill and power."
Collingwood emphasised the canny and timely use of different skills in the 20-over format.
"You have all the skills in your armoury, but you need to know when to use them," Collingwood said.
"I think that's the skill of Twenty20 cricket. The side that wins will probably be the side that thinks the best throughout the competition."
Collingwood said captains needed to be able to keep their wits about them if they were to succeed.
"Sometimes there are shots played that you have never seen before, and it's hard to set fields to that," he said.
"Boundaries in Twenty20 cricket have almost become non-existent. It doesn't matter where fielders are, batsmen will back themselves to try and hit it over their heads.
"You have to be very well prepared as a captain, you have to have plan B and sometimes plan C."
