Having lost early wickets to be 4 for 54 in the sixth over, Australia recovered to reach 5 for 214 off its 20 overs with captain Ricky Ponting top-scoring with 98 not out.

Ponting and Simon Katich stabilised the tourists' innings and while lacking the firepower of Symonds and Gilchrist, they moved Australia well past the 100-run mark.
The pair put on 83 runs for the fifth wicket, both taking to the bowling of former All Black Jeff Wilson.
Wilson's three overs yielded 37 runs without a wicket, but Cairns made the breakthrough when he bowled Katich for 30.
Hussey replaced Katich at the crease and despite a nervous start, he soon fell into an aggressive groove.
He hit two sixes off Andre Adams in the 18th over and his performance was backed up by Ponting who cleared the fence on four occasions in the next over bowled by Tuffey.
Ponting fell just short of a century while Hussey remained unbeaten on 31.
Today's Twenty20 match will act as a warm-up to the five-match one-day series beginning on Saturday in Wellington.
