With both Australia and New Zealand wearing retro uniforms and some players
sporting 70s style hairdos and moustaches, the 29,317 fans got exactly what
they turned up for, Cricket entertainment with a capital E.
The crowd was in the mood and as day turned into night, fans new and old
stayed with the action, roaring with the intensity of the hardened supporter
whilst also acknowledging skilled play from either side.
The festive atmosphere and excellent turnout was a solid gold indicator of how
Twenty20 Cricket has grabbed both the interest and support of the New Zealand
public, earning new fans and allowing players to show their class in another form
of cricket.
