Yorkshire are ready to put the full house signs up at Headingley tomorrow when they kick off their Twenty20 Cup campaign.
Headingley chiefs are forecasting a county record 15,000 attendance for the 20-over Roses showdown. The club has already sold in excess of 7,000 tickets and supporters and members are being urged to arrive early to guarantee themselves a seat for the clash with Lancashire.
A spokeswoman for Yorkshire today confirmed: "Ticket sales have gone very well and we are hoping for a near full house.
"We had a crowd of 14,000 for the Roses game in Twenty20 last season, but this looks set to beat it.
"England's game against Australia last week really caught people's imaginations and was a real boost in terms of interest.
"We have plenty of other things going and we are asking people to come early."
The financial rewards for tomorrow's game are rich for Yorkshire – and commercial interest is higher than for Sunday's NatWest Series clash between England and Bangladesh at Headingley.
Last season's Headingley Roses battle in Twenty20 was a classic contest and is remembered for a stunning 53-ball century from Aussie batsman Ian Harvey when Yorkshire beat their arch-rivals by eight wickets.
The Phoenix have yet to win through the group stages in the competition, but Yorkshire have made an impressive start to the season in all competitions, and have spent the past week preparing for Twenty20.
