The former Free State and Griquas opening batsman, who will be officially in charge of the national team for the first time since taking over from Ray Jennings in May, views the match as an ideal opportunity to create momentum ahead of the five-match one-day series against Stephen Fleming's men.
"We are definitely going out there with the intention to win on Friday. Any win allows the team to gel and we will hopefully be able to carry that positive spirit through to the one-day series," said Arthur who had only previously worked with his players during the Afro/Asia series and the Jacques Kallis Benefit matches.
The composition of the Proteas squad further indicates that Arthur and the selection panel had an eye on the one-day series when the team was picked for this much-anticipated game.
Local Pro20 stars such as SA 'A' allrounder Tyron Henderson and the Eagles duo of Loots Bosman and Thandi Tshabalala were all overlooked, with only Titans big-hitter Albie Morkel replacing Justin Ontong in the squad that toured the West Indies.
Arthur echoes these sentiments, but says an official Protea Pro20 team might be selected for the match against Australia early next year.
"We did discuss the possibility of bringing in different players for this one-off match, but in the end favoured the players that we already had in the squad. Albie has been included as the 'Pro20 specialist', although he is also part of our thinking for the one-day series," he told News24.
"We will sit down again ahead of the Australian match where there is a great likelihood that we could go with a specialist Pro20 team for that match."
While the team that played against the West Indies in the Caribbean remains roughly the same, the coach has indicated that the batting lineup will definitely be tweaked to suit the occasion. One player assured of a promotion up the order is the Cape Cobras star Herschelle Gibbs.
"There is good chance that there will be one or two changes. Herschelle will, however, definitely bat in the top three positions. It will be stupid for him not to," added Arthur.
The reduced amount of overs forces batsmen to attack the bowling from start leading to great excitement for the fans.
No one, however, spares a thought for the poor bowlers who have their reputations - let alone their figures - decimated in their four allocated overs.
Protea opening bowler Makhaya Ntini, however, has a simplistic approach to dealing with the stress of taking the new ball in a Twenty20 clash.
"I don't get nervous. I just do the basics, and stick to my role within the team plan," said Ntini.
