India well placed to break winless streak

India look well placed to finally claim a victory on their disastrous tour of Australia after an energized performance in the field helped them restrict the hosts to a total of just 131 at the MCG in Melbourne.

Ravindra Jadeja led the way with two outstanding run outs in the covers to remove Aaron Finch (36) and George Bailey (3) before he caught David Hussey (24) off his own bowling to leave India with a run chase of 132 to break their winless streak.

Praveen Kumar (2-21) and Vinay Kumar (1-25) offered support with wickets at key moments in the innings as Australia’s shuffled batting line up failed to get going.

Finch, Matthew Wade (32) and Hussey all got off to good starts but none of the top order was able to push on to record a big total to leave the Aussies facing defeat for the first time this summer.

Having lost the first t20 International, India will be aiming to hit straight back having bowled the Aussies out for just 131 in an innings which included four run outs.
