Aussie slump hands victory to the Windies

Javinder Singh | cricket20

A middle order batting collapse by Australia handed the West Indies a 14 run victory to tie their two game t20 International series after an exciting game at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

A half century from David Warner (58) looked to have sealed victory for the Aussies who were chasing a total of 161 but the West Indies fought back to deny the tourists in the final over.

Fiedel Edwards (3-23) and Marlon Samuels (3-23) lead the fight back as Australia lost five wickets in the space of three overs to come up just short in their attempts to seal a series victory.

The West Indies bounced after they suffered their own batting collapse after Dwayne Smith (63) and Johnson Charles (37) had got the match off to an explosive start.

The pair put on an opening stand of 72 from just 6.4 overs before Charles was dismissed by Xavier Doherty (1-32) to halt the West Indies charge and silence the crowd.

Kieron Pollard (1) and Smith quickly followed as the hosts lost innings went of the boil as they recorded a total of 160 after reaching 110-2 at the start of the 10th over.
