Hales leads England to seven wicket victory

Alex Hales was in impressive form to help England seal a commanding seven wicket victory over the West Indies in a high scoring match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

Hales led the way with a stunning innings of 99 to give the World Champions the edge but the 23 year old’s dream of scoring a century at his own ground was ended by Ravi Rampaul (2-37) after he was bowled in the penultimate over.

Despite the loss of Hales and Ravi Bopara (59) in quick succession, Eoin Morgan (2)
and Jos Butler (0) saw England home with two balls to spare in an exciting match at Trent Bridge.

It proved to be a disappointing end to the West Indies tour as the slumped to another defeat to leave England having lost the Test Series, ODI Series and the one off t20 International despite scoring 172-4.

Dwayne Smith led the way with a quick fire 70 which included five boundaries and five sixes after the early dismissals of Chris Gayle (2), Lendl Simmons (6) and Marlon Samuels.

Dwayne Bravo (54) offered Smith support before sharing a 5th wicket stand of 65 with Kieron Pollard (23) to leave England with a tricky target of 173 to chase down.
