South Africa takes control at the Riverside

Aaron Moores | cricket20

South Africa produced an impressive bowling performance to restrict England to a total of just 118-7 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street to take control of the first t20 International.

Having won the toss, South Africa skipper AB de Villiers decided to bowl first and it proved to be the right decision thanks to Johan Botha (2-19) and Robin Peterson (2-27) who lead the Proteas bowling attack.

Craig Kieswetter (25) offered some resistantís at the top of the order but with wickets falling at regular intervals it proved to be a poor day for the defending t20 World Cup champions.

Even with a lower order partnership of 33 between Graeme Swann (18) and Stuart Broad (18), South Africa will still feel confident of chasing down a total of just 119 to take the lead in their three game series.
