New Zealand survived a blistering attack from Virat Kohli to seal a tense one run victory against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to seal a surprise 1-0 series victory.
Kohli smashed 70 runs from just 41 balls including ten boundaries and one six to put India in control as they chased down New Zealandís total of 167-5.
Youcraj Singh, on his return to international cricket added 34 with support coming from Suresh Raina (27) but the home side were stifled by a Kiwiís bowling attack which was led by Kyle Mills (2-17) and James Franklin (2-26).
Earlier New Zealand overcame a top order batting collapse to record a total of 167-5 thanks to an impressive innings from Brendon McCullum.
The Kiwis lost Rob Nicol (0) and Martin Guptill (1) inside the opening three overs before McCullum smashed 91 runs from just 55 balls to leave India facing a run chase of 168.
McCullum dispatched eleven boundaries and three wickets before he was bowled by Irfan Pathan (3-31) in the 17th over to end the Kiwiís blistering counter attack.
