Ross Taylor lashed 46 from just 19 balls as State Central Stags recorded a 66–run win over State Canterbury Wizards at Christchurch’s QEII Park in the State Twenty20.

Taylor’s knock, which included five sixes and two fours, helped the Stags to a competitive 186 for six after the Wizards sent the visitors into bat.

A solid top-order performance saw Jamie How (33), Geoff Barnett (38) and Mathew Sinclair (37) also produce runs at a healthy strike rate.

Taylor then backed up his knock with two wickets as Canterbury were removed for 120 in the 18th over.

Brendon Diamanti took three wickets, and Michael Mason two, to limit the Wizards, whose innings was built on a contribution of 47 from Chris Harris.
