Colin Munro smashed an impressive half century to guide the Auckland Aces to a 8 run victory over the Otago Volts in a rain effected match at Queen’s Park in Invercargill.
Munro’s innings of 66 helped the Aces recover from a poor start to leave the Volts with a runs chase of 176 after the Aces had slumped to just 77-5 after 9 overs.
The middle order batsman smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes during his 48 ball innings which changed the cause of the game after Darren Stevens and Ian Butler had both picked up two early wickets.
Faced with a big run chase the Volts got off to a good start thanks to Aaron Redmond (19) and Hamish Rutherford (21) who shared and opening stand of 43 before Rutherford was run out by Andre Adams.
Craig Cumming added a quick fire 44 before heavy ran intervened to leave the Volts 8 runs short of their required Duckworth / Lewis victory target.
